How much do tickets cost?
All shows are pay-as-you-go. Tickets are sold on a first-come-first-serve basis at the door of each venue the night of show. Advance tickets are available for some shows. Covers range from free to $25.00. See schedule for complete calendar and costs.
Are advance tickets available?
While most of our performances are free admission or pay-as-you-go, a limited number of shows can be purchased in advance. They are:
Weekend concerts at Cumberlands - Call & charge at 843-577-9469 for Sharrie Williams & the Wise Guys (Fri., Feb 6), Larry McCray (Sat., Feb. 7), Chubby Carrier (Thurs., Feb. 12), "Chicago Calling" (Fri. Feb. 13), and "Sweethearts of the Blues" (Sat., Feb. 14). Tickets charged over the phone will be held at the gate for you.
"Real Folk Blues" series at Gage Hall - Advance tickets recommended as this acoustically-delightful venue is capacity only slightly more than eighty (80). Tickets are uniformly priced at $10 for all shows at Gage Hall and available in advance by mail only. Indicate how many tickets for which show(s) and send bank check or money order only to Blues Bash, POB 13525, Charleston, SC 29422. Tickets purchased in advance will be held at the gate for you.
Where does the Bash take place?
The Blues Bash offers a vast range of performances held at a number of locations in both downtown Charleston and adjacent communities. Many of these are small, intimate venues; perfect places to enjoy blues music. It is recommended you arrive early in most cases. Nightclub performances are for blues fans twenty-one years of age or older. These performances ordinarily begin at 9:30-10:00pm. Other performances (of which there are many) in non-nightclub venues (restaurants, hotels, etc.) are all-ages and range from afternoons to evenings. Handicapped access varies according to venue. Please call ahead.
Do I have to be 21 to attend?
Performances that take place in area nightclubs, in accordance with area laws, can only admit blues fans twenty-one years of age or older. These performances ordinarily begin at 9:30-10:00pm.
Where can I obtain lodging info?
The host hotel for the Bash is: Howard Johnson, 843-554-4140; special rate; 8 mins from downtown. Or, we recommend logging on the Charleston Convention and Visitor’s Bureau at www.charlestoncvb.com for hotel / visitor info. Keep in mind that the second weeked of the Bash coincides with the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition, one of Charleston’s largest annual tourist events dedicated to wildlife art and outdoor recreation. Hotels tend to fill quickly!
